Expedition Update 6

07th September 2021, Siachen Base Camp
The expedition team paid thier respects to the fallen soldiers of Siachen Glacier by laying the wreath at the Siachen War Memorial.
The team shall once again offer their prayers and seek the permission of ‘OP BABA’, before setting foot on the icy Glacier.
After 3 weeks of training and acclimatization, Operation Blue Freedom – Land World Record Expedition Team to commence the expedition from Siachen Base Camp towards Kumar Post.
After being flagged off from New Delhi on 15th August 2021, the expedition team reached Leh via road on 19th August.
The team completed the 3 stages of acclimatization and training at Leh, Siachen Base Camp and at North Pullu, gradually increasing the altitude from 9,000 ft to 15,000 ft.
A final Team of 09 People with disabilities cleared all three stages and have been shortlisted for the expedition till Kumar Post (Siachen Glacier).
On 07th Sept at 0630 hrs, Brigadier. Padam Thakur, VSM shall be flagging off the expedition team from Siachen Base Camp.
The expedition team shall walk a distance of 60km over 5 days on the Siachen Glacier to reach Kumar Post by 11th Sept and create a new WORLD RECORD for the largest team of people with disabilities to scale the world’s highest battlefield (Siachen Glacier).
